Grousing

It seems like whenever I go to the gym, the next person to come in jumps on the machine right behind me in the circuit.

There can be ten empty machines and no one else in the place, but for whatever reason, the newcomer feels compelled to chase my tail.

It's really annoying.

That's all. I won't mention it again.

They just want to be near you. Magnetic personality and whatever.

Unwanted attention always tags behind, never in front :)

You probably look like one of those superfit people that will be so fast on every machine that you eventually catch people up and then they feel guilty that they are slower than you, so the safest thing is to tag along behind you.

No way am I fast! I'm a total slug at the gym... I sat on my butt for three months in Kuwait, and in Africa before that there were three months that I couldn't walk anywhere because it isn't safe in the national park (lions and stuff, don'tchya know).

Anyway, I realized later that some people actually like to chat at the gym, so these tagalongs are probably social beings. I'm one of those types who wants to be left alone and get the whole gym experience over with as quickly as possible.
