It just wasn't that kind of book. It was work-for-hire, no royalties. I didn't originate the idea, was just a hired hand on one aspect of the book. There were also dozens of photographers, a designer, and an editor. Oh and map consultants and cartographers.
But as a friend's mom pointed out, I can still say "I wrote this book which sold xxx copies."

It's kind of funny, right? Like "Stalking the Wild Dik-Dik" is #1 in Africa Travel>Solo Women>Orange Covers>Cute Animals>Hippo Attacks.
