The Office

My pal Chip Mosher was annoyed with me for posting an image of my office with no one sitting in it, when he had perfectly good photos of me behind my desk from when he dropped by a few weeks ago.

And then there's this. My office at Marvel, circa 1994 or so.

Babcock always said that I was born to be middle-aged. I'm starting to agree with him from looking at these old photos. The Elvis pants look odd from where I sit at 42. I liked 'em just fine at 24 though.

The desk is bigger, but appears to have the same volume of stuff on it. :)

Your new office is much cleaner. And has a better view!

Let's see...

1) View has significantly improved, from an airshaft to rooftops.

2) Desktop technology has significantly improved, from an unplugged electric pencil sharpener to an iMac.

3) Disposition appears to have significantly improved, from a 'what am I doing here' slump to a pert, 'F you, I'm the boss.'

Bonus: At the time of the first photo, Shake Shack did not yet exist; instead, we had to eat at the Skylight Diner.

The present FTW.

So speaks "The Feesh-a-man!"

There's probably just as much "crap on the desk" except now it's "crap on the desktop" and Marie's the only one who can see it.

Holy Jesus Palomino, we didn't have computers at all back then. How the hell did we do anything? I seem to recall wadding my art up in a canister and sending it via pneumatic tube, but I could be remembering it wrong.

We had shared Wang word processors. Giant floppy disks, and a giant Wang brain in the closest. Ugh.

Huh huh. Huh huh huh. Hey Beavis...

Chip asked me to take down the "homely" photo of me in 1994.

"I knew you then and you didn't look homely like that."

Okay, so for the record, I put up a lousy photo of me. Sorry. It was the only one I could find of my desk.
