Not that brave, really. It's the Next Big Thing, it seems. Loads of backpackers on the ground already, and I know two (well, one know and one e-know) people who have already been within the past year. Time Out New York even featured Bogota this week. Who knew?
Anyway, the story isn't that exciting but I'll tell it sooner or later. "You've been there? Well, I've been here," all while trying not to go to the other side of the world. And ultimately, I actually HAVE been to Colombia-though only to the Amazon part-before so I don't even get any new bragging rights.
Good for you! I'm sure you'll have a great time. I've got a Columbian friend who lives here in Iceland if you want to e-chat with someone local before you go ... Look forward to reading about it upon your return.
Bring your business cards: people seemed BIG on them. And leave extra time for hotel checkouts in Cartagena, as staff may send a bomb sniffer dog through your room before letting you out the front door...
